The Continental Hotel was built by Pierre Cazeau in 1878, completed in 1880. Prior to 1970, the hotel was undergoing two reigns, the Duke of Montpensier (1911) and Corse's brother-in-law Mathieu Francini (1930). In the 1960s and 1970s, the hotel was called Mainland Lu.
